10:15am-11:00am – PANEL: The Truth About Delta 8 THC: What is it?

The truth is, we’ve all heard about TCH, but not many fully understand exactly what Delta 8 THC is. In this panel we will open up the discussion in-depth to highlight what is and isn’t known about this common cannabinoid. How Delta 8 THC works within the human endocannabinoid system will be examined, as will the many developing medicinal and beneficial properties it possesses. There has been plenty of misinformation and broad generalization surrounding THC alongside the growth of the cannabis industry and here we will take a much more focused look at what it is in full.

11:15am – 1:00pm – SOLO: Production Protocols of Delta 8

SPOILER ALERT:  Just because people from the earth who live in the USA’s geographic region heard about the compound called Delta 8 THC does not mean citizens of the world did not know about this compound.  Delta 8 THC [(6aR,10aR)-6a,7,10,10a-tetrahydro-6,6,9-trimethyl-3-pentyl-6Hdibenzo[b,d]pyran-1-ol] is only one isomer with the chemical formula with 21 carbons, 30 hydrogens and 2 oxygens.

Producing kilograms of delta 8 THC per day is not a difficult task if you have the right ingredients and a current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) facility and equipment, and a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP).  We will walk through a complex set of variables in chemistry and economics into a very simple equation.

1:15pm – 2:00pm – PANEL: Is Delta 8 Safe or Dangerous? Claims and Research

The cannabis industry is still developing and that means the claims and research surrounding Delta 8 THC are developing as well. This panel will take a look into the evidence-based research surrounding the safety, or lack thereof, of Delta 8. While it has been deemed generally safe and is anecdotally known as much by the public, a further look into these claims is needed for a better understanding as we move into future regulations and applications. Current and ongoing research will also be highlighted here as a way to demonstrate instances where Delta 8 is safe and times where it could potentially be dangerous.

2:15pm – 3:00pmm – All the Other Delta’s and Minors: The overview

Cannabinoid science and research continues to develop and with that comes a host of lesser-known compounds. While these compounds may be deemed minor, they have yet to be fully explored and could provide benefits still unseen. This panel will take an over-arching look at the other Delta’s and minor cannabinoids that fall into this category. We will examine what is currently known, the types of research and studies being conducted, and the potential uses of these emerging compounds. Participants will gain leading knowledge into an exciting and developing arena that can provide an advantage when exploring new products, treatments, and uses for minor cannabinoids.

10:15am – 11:00am – PANEL: Delta 8 and it’s Surrounding Legalities

Delta-8-THC products are popping up and probably invading your ad space. As the industry dives further into the potential that the minor cannabinoids hold, delta-8-THC should continue to hold its weight in that category. But what’s the deal with its status at the DEA and FDA? Is it legally available across the US? The DEA’s interim final ruling released in 2020 updated its original guidance on allowable CBD products to contain less than 0.3% delta-9-THC. With this new ruling, that percentage must be maintained through the entire processing on a dry weight basis. Although there is no regulation on delta-8-THC as of now, this could still spell bad news for the industry. However, products are out there now for purchase and we will need to wait for further guidance.

1:15pm – 2:00pm – PANEL: Delta 8 THC; Trending and Projections

Interest in a new cannabinoid is growing–one that is similar to delta-9-THC but differs in its structure chemistry. Delta-8 came on the scene within the last year or so. Although a minor cannabinoid, companies are finding ways to extract and produce large enough amounts to create delta-8-only products. As delta-8-THC causes psychotropic effects, the intoxication is less so than that produced by delta-9-THC. This cannabinoid is more stable than delta-9-THC, meaning that it won’t degrade into CBD over time, which can prolong shelf life. Plus, it offers potential medicinal benefits, including anti-inflammatory, anti-anxiety, and anti-nausea effects; it may also stimulate appetite. However, it may come with its own safety concerns, such as cardiovascular effects. Clearly, we need to learn a lot more about this cannabinoid but its lower intoxicating effects means it could be very beneficial for people who avoid delta-9-THC for those reasons.
